What does professional WordPress development actually include?

We build custom WordPress websites designed to grow with your business, flexible, fast, and fully tailored to your goals. Whether you’re launching a brand-new site or extending an existing one, we develop with scalability, performance, and usability at the core. With WordPress powering over 40% of the web, we harness its full potential to create digital experiences that stand out and drive results.

Our WordPress development process is strategy-led and future-ready. From custom themes and plugins to third-party integrations and advanced CMS configurations, we deliver functionality that matches your exact needs,  not cookie-cutter solutions. Every build is optimized for speed, SEO, and mobile responsiveness, ensuring your website not only looks sharp but performs flawlessly on every device.

We also make managing your website effortless. With intuitive backend structures, clean code, and modular content systems, you’ll have full control without needing to touch a line of code. And with ongoing support and maintenance options available, you’re never on your own. At The Bigger Pixel, we don’t just build WordPress websites, we build smart, scalable platforms that keep working long after launch.

FAQs

Do you build fully custom WordPress themes or use pre-built ones?

Fully custom. Every theme we ship is coded from scratch or built on a lean starter framework — no bloated marketplace themes with 40 unused sliders and demo content. This means faster page loads, cleaner code, better SEO, and no design compromises.

Can you develop custom Gutenberg blocks and Elementor widgets?

Yes. We build custom Gutenberg blocks (native React, block.json, dynamic rendering) and custom Elementor widgets to give editors purpose-built content components that match the site design exactly.

How do you handle WordPress security best practices?

Every site ships with hardened login (2FA, custom login URL, brute-force protection), disabled file editing, prepared statements everywhere, sanitisation and escaping on all input/output, role-based capabilities, and a firewall/security plugin.

Do you use version control and staging environments?

Yes. All custom code lives in Git, every project has a separate staging environment, and deployments to live are scripted and reversible. No cowboy edits directly on production.

Can you extend or fix a site built by another developer?

Yes. We do a lot of rescue work — inheriting sites from previous developers, auditing the code and hosting, and either extending what is there or planning a clean migration if the existing build is too far gone.
